Diabetic Diet, An incredible Variety of Taste Sensations Open Up, Just 4 Weeks Out

By: Robert P. Tracy

How hard is it to go on a real "Diet for Diabetes"?
Real hard, just try to figure out what to eat. We have a "Natural Human Need" to pack in high caloric food today and hunt like our "ancestors" tomorrow. So the diabetic who is taking control of their blood sugar, diet and weight and acting to reverse their diabetic symptoms is supposed to eat complex carbohydrates, whole grains, vegetables and legumes, many beans, salads, lean protein and "good" fats--all in place of those things that we crave like concentrated sweets or "simple" carbs.

Food needs to be delicious!
Whatever else we say about the nutritional benefits of food, your new diet should also be delightfully delicious to eat.

Just Like the Ex-Smoker
A few weeks after you have started the program, you can expect to find that your tastes have changed so much that the thought of a pastry would hold little allure. This really happens. In fact after this length of time, you would probably find that a high sugar/ high fat American meal would cause you some discomfort. Your taste and your body will be tuned to a new wave length. Does this seem incredible to you? Try it, and see for yourself.

Just like the ex-smoker who now tastes and smells everything, the successful person in this new diabetic diet finds a whole amazing new world of excellent tastes, and may not want to go back

DON'T TRUST US ON THIS--DO IT YOURSELF
After your taste buds have had a chance to adapt themselves to the light and airy flavors, you will be shocked how many delicious and subtle tastes are masked by the strong effects of salts, fats, and sugar. Although these great taste-maskers are everywhere evident in the American diet, they should not be a part of the typical diabetic diet Program, and their absence will give you a chance TO DISCOVER TASTES YOU NEVER KNEW EXISTED.

As I talk to hundreds of people, we always encourage people to sit down with a certified diabetes educator and find out what works for you. Many people are adding Natural Supplements to this diet to help them get to this all-natural food and taste.

Don't Forget
In 2001 we were again told that diabetes is at least 90% preventable. (The New England Journal of Medicine September 13, 2001; 345). Other studies show that type 2 is reversible with lifestyle changes.
